The Department of child health nursing aims to maintain excellence in the fields of nursing education and research contributing to comprehensive care of children within the frame work of Indian Nursing council .

The department provides courses related to Child Health nursing within the frame work of Indian Nursing council curriculum plan. Good teaching- learning experiences to the students are provided by means of expert teachers and good clinical practice. The department aims to enable student to function as educators, managers and researchers in the field of child health nursing.
The department has Ph D (N) programme and post graduate nursing programme. The post graduate teaching programme consists of regular seminars, Case Discussion, Classes on drugs & equipments and journal clubs. We regularly conduct CNE programme, workshops and conference .department faculty publish research articles regularly in the national and international journals.
The college has well equipped Child Health nursing lab where students get hands on experience for various procedures.
The students are given the best clinical exposure at A J Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre and Multispeciality A J Hospital and Research Centre in pediatric speciality areas. Hospital is having 90 bedded paediatric ward with state of Art PICU & NICU. PICU is 6 bedded equipped with ventilators, Invasive and Non Invasive monitors. NICU is 20 beds with state of art level III care.
National Deworming Daywas observed on 15th February 2020 at Govt. Lower Primary School, Souterpet, Valencia, Mangalore. The gathering was welcomed by Ms. Namitha of 3rd year B.Sc nursing. The day was inaugurated by lighting the lamp. A lively drama delineating the causes, signs and side effects, lifecycle, treatment and avoidance of worm invasion was established by the understudies of third year B.Sc nursing which was very well deciphered by the younger students. The method of hand washing was displayed through an activity melody. The younger students energetically took an interest in the various games that were directed and prizes were circulated to the champs. Bites were disseminated to the younger students. Dr. Theresa L. Mendonca, Vice Principal and Head of the Department of Child Health Nursing and Mrs. Jayalakshmi, Asst. instructor, Govt. Lower Primary School were available on the event.
Celebrated children’s day on 12th November, Infant Jesus Orphanage, Mary hill Mangalore .9.30am Dr. Larissa Martha Sams Principal Laxmi Memorial College of nursing, Dr. Theresa.L.Mendonca HOD of pediatric nursing department, Sr.Premalatha warden of the orphanage were present on the occasion.Dr. Larissa Martha Sams addressed the children and encouraged them to dream big. Colorful program was presented by 2nd year PB BSc nursing students, they entertain the children.. Various activities and amusing games were organized for the children and Children actively participated in the activities. Prizes were given away to the winners. At the end refreshment was served for all.
